Community Impact Legal Services provides free civil legal services to financially eligible individuals and groups who need assistance with consumer and housing matters.  The consumer matters include automobile transaction fraud, door-to-door sales, telephone solicitation, credit card issues, bankruptcy and other consumer transactions.  Housing matters include predatory mortgage lending, mortgage foreclosure, home repair lending scams, subsidized and public housing issues. 

CILS has the ability to bring actions on behalf of groups of consumers, homeowners, and tenants. 

CILS staff is available to provide educational seminars to client groups or the staff of other human services agencies.

Don’t Borrow Trouble

The ‘Don’t Borrow Trouble’ Suburban Philadelphia campaign is a groundbreaking coalition of fifty-two (52) organizations that have joined together to strengthen homeownership and prevent predatory lending in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties, PA.  Launched in February 2005, the project aims to help traditionally vulnerable populations, such as families in financial crisis, communities of color and the elderly, to avoid predatory lending tactics, which often lead to default and foreclosure on their homes.  The project helps at-risk families and individuals through community education, service referrals, and legal support.
