Family Service of Chester County is a private not-for-profit community agency whose mission is to promote the well being of families and individuals and to advocate for positive community change.

We provide a range of services and programs to help individuals and families to overcome 'problems in living' and to achieve stronger and healthier relationships. Family Service offers counseling, workshops, parenting support, school-based programs, volunteer opportunities for seniors, and other services to support families and family relationships.

Specific Services:

Counseling Program:  The Counseling Program, staffed by licensed clinical social workers, helps over 1,200 individuals and families a year to deal with the emotional confusion and pain associated with strained relationships, the trauma of separation or divorce, parenting issues, loss of a loved one, personal barriers to self-sufficiency and a variety of other issues affecting individual and families along the life cycle.

Exchange Club Family Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse: The Exchange Club Family Center, part of a nationwide network of child abuse prevention centers, works with over 20 families a year in the county who are dealing with issues of abuse and neglect.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP): RSVP connects people over age 55 with satisfying and meaningful volunteer opportunities.  Last year, 270 active RSVP volunteers served over 23,000 hours in schools, hospitals, and other organizations throughout the county.

Project ONE:  Project ONE provides intensive case management and other supportive services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS and their families.  This year, Project ONE will benefit over 6,000 Chester County residents through its prevention education and outreach activities.

Families and Schools Together (FAST)The innovative FAST program benefits families with young children who face challenges that place them at risk of future social, academic, or substance abuse problems.

Achievement Mentoring Program (AMP):  The Achievement Mentoring Program helps 60 struggling middle school students a year in southern Chester County to develop problem solving skills, establish goals and explore career possibilities.

Family Life Education ProgramFamily Life Education workshops provide insights into anger management, step parenting, child development issues, stress management, and other topics related to personal growth for individuals and families.
